The ADVANCE International Management Training Programme has been designed to help graduates acquire the skills and experience they need to succeed in today’s highly competitive employment marketplace.
ADVANCE is a UK-based, six-month professional development programme, combining a twelve-week English language course and twelve-week quality work placement with an advanced certificate in management practice from the Chartered Management Institute. ADVANCE participants are supported by a range of highly-qualified language and training professionals to make their time in the UK as successful and advantageous as possible.
The ADVANCE Programme
The ADVANCE Programme is managed by FGS McClure Watters, a professional services firm based in Belfast, United Kingdom. FGS McClure Watters is part ofthe RSM International network, the sixth largest network of independent accounting and consulting firms worldwide. The Language Course—International House Belfast
A cornerstone of the programme is the high-quality language course offered by International House Belfast, Northern Ireland’s leading private language school.
IH Belfast is a member of the International House World Organisation, which was founded in 1953 and is the leading language solutions provider worldwide. International House is committed to implementing the highest standards of quality and innovation in education and training. ADVANCE participants receive special training in business English, as well as resources tailored to their individual career interests.
Work Placement
ADVANCE participants have the opportunity to develop work experience in a UK firm, gain invaluable "real world" experience, acquire sectoral knowledge and develop new, professional business skills.
Whether you are interested in working in a large bank, an exciting new start-up company, or an NGO, FGS will place you in companies/positions which match your interests and ambitions as closely as possible. All sectors are catered for, including IT, business, finance, tourism, manufacturing, media, law and engineering.
Our company’s network of over 2,000 clients means we have excellent contacts in every industry and sector, as well as with government bodies and voluntary/community organisations.
Examples of host organisations include Bank of Ireland, BBC, Belfast City Council, Deloitte, Fujitsu, Hastings Hotels, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Citibank, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Queen’s University Belfast, and Shorts/Bombardier.
Chartered Management Institute (CMI)
ADVANCE participants receive extensive tuition a Level 5 Certificate in Management from the Chartered Management Institute.
The CMI is the only chartered organisation in the UK that awards management and leadership qualifications. Modules covered focus on the development of participants’ management skills including the management of information/systems. The course is delivered via a mixture of classroom tuition, e-learning, independent research, and work-based learning while on placement. Tuition is given by experienced trainers who hold advanced degrees in business and occupational psychology.
Life in Belfast
Belfast has now become one of the most dynamic and vibrant cities in Europe. Northern Ireland is an attractive, affordable and safe destination for both investors and foreign visitors.
In fact, Northern Ireland is one of the most dynamic and safest cities Europe. As part of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland offers a unique mix of British and Irish cultures. Leading international travel guide Lonely Planet named Belfast as a "must visit" destination.
Participants are accommodated in International House Belfast’s superb Sandhurst House apartments. The apartments are completely new and finished to a very high standard. Facilities include fridge, washing machine, TV, oven, dishwasher and wi-fi. The apartments are spacious and comfortable and located just a 30-second walk from International House Belfast, right in the heart of the university area of the city.
Course fees, dates, and eligibility
24 weeks £5,730
Fees include: intensive 12-week English language course, 24 weeks self-catering accommodation, registration and enrolment, internship placement and monitoring, CMI qualifications, airport transfer to/from accommodation and course orientation.
Dates: Start date: 14 March 2011
Eligibility: The Advance programme is open to university graduates only, who have a minimum English Language Level B1.
