CLIL for secondary school teachers
Course objectives
This course is designed for teachers in secondary education, and is aimed at teachers with a B1—B2 level of English onwards.
The main objective of the course is for participants to improve their level of English, consider CLIL methodology, acquire expertise and fresh ideas for teaching their subject in English and work with colleagues in their subject area to produce a piece of work (e.g. sequence of lessons, action plan, project) that can be trialled in their classroom(s) on their return.
By the end of this course participants will have:
- gained confidence and fluency in their own use of English
- developed awareness of the characteristics and needs of the CLIL learner in second language acquisition
- refreshed their knowledge of different learning styles
- experienced and tried out teaching activities that maximise pupil involvement and the use of English in CLIL lessons
- worked with Northern Irish colleagues in their subject area to produce a piece of work (E.g. sequence of lessons, action plan, project etc) that can be trialled in their classroom(s) on their return
Teachers will have specific afternoon sessions depending on the subjects they teach.

Dates

Preparation
Participants are asked to complete an application form that serves as an analysis of their previous experience, their level of English and their needs in relation to CLIL teaching.
They are also asked to identify an area of work (e.g. topic, scheme of work, use of target language), that they would like to develop.
